Project Overview
Building a health insurance portal requires bridging the complexity of actuarial rules and plan eligibility logic with an intuitive, consumer-grade buying experience. We engineered a custom web-based health insurance platform where users can browse available plans, instantly calculate live premiums based on their age, family size, and coverage tier, add and manage their insured family members and dependants, complete payments through an integrated payment gateway, and receive auto-generated policy documents — all without any offline paperwork or agent dependency. An accompanying admin portal allows operations teams to configure plans, manage policies, and oversee the complete policy lifecycle.
The Challenge
The client's existing insurance sales process was heavily manual and agent-driven, creating significant bottlenecks at every stage of the policy lifecycle. Key challenges included:
- Premium calculation required offline consultation with agents — users had no way to get an instant quote without calling a support line.
- Adding insured members (family members, dependants, nominees) involved submitting paper forms with multi-day turnaround times.
- Policy renewals depended entirely on agent follow-ups, resulting in frequent lapses due to missed renewal windows.
- Policy documents were manually generated and dispatched by back-office teams, causing delays post-payment and inconsistent policy record formatting.

Live Premium Calculator & Policy Booking
Built a dynamic server-side premium calculation engine that factors in member age, coverage tier, plan duration, and sum insured in real time, allowing users to compare, select, and book policies entirely online.
Member Management, Payment & Policy Generation
Developed a structured member management module for adding insured members, nominees, and dependant details, integrated with a payment gateway and automated PDF policy document generation delivered instantly upon payment confirmation.
